This virtual exhibition is a web version of the traveling exhibition „The Aftermath of Prague Spring and Charter 77 in Latvia/the Baltics ” which opened for first time in Prague during the international conference "Prague Spring 1968. Society, the Mass Media, and the Transfer of Political and Cultural Processes" on June 16-17, 2008.

The exhibition deals with the aftermath of events in 1968 in Czechoslovakia, in Latvia, and in the Baltics uncovering little known facts about the protests of the Latvian people against the invasion of Czechoslovakia by USSR troops.

The exhibition highlights the Baltic Charter signed by the Baltic dissidents in 1979 in honor of Charter 77, and appeals to all countries in the world to annul the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact.

The documents and photographs shown in the exhibition present how the struggle for human rights was transformed into demands to renew the full independence of the Baltic States.

The exhibition was created using sources from the Baltic and Russian archives, museums, as well as private collections.
